Green building is not a phase we will pass through; it is not a trendy new "buzz" word or thing.Population and standards of living continue to rise; natural resources, air and water quality continue to decline. Whether we like it or not, change is inevitable. Sustainability and green building represent a new way to approach the design and development of our built environment that is, hopefully, less harmful to our environment and ourselves.

Here are some of the simple practical methods we at Ruckle construction employ in our building projects:

  • Salvage fixtures to be removed or demolish, In most cases we can take them to "Habitat Restore" or other non profit groups, to be reused, with a receipt given to write off on your taxes!

  • Recycle the majority of the clean wood demo, and cutoffs from new construction. This saves precious landfill space.

  • Purchase and use rapidly sustainable products such as OSB for sheating floors, walls, and roofs.

  • We use low to no VOC paints on your project.

  • We recycle your old concrete and asphalt that we remove from the site.

  • We use recycled concrete turned to gravel and sand for base under concrete, behind retaining walls, and use with drains.

  • Wash out pits that don’t drain in our city streets and gutters.

  • Run the majority our invoicing electronically, via email, doing so over he course of a whole project, reduces the use of reams of paper.

Things the you as the client can do:

  • Choose to have us install Photovoltaic panels.

  • Choose energy and water efficient finish plumbing fixtures, and appliances.

  • Choose Soy , or recycled denim insulation.

  • Choose to reuse ,if possible, different elements in the new remodel of your home(this works especially well in historic renovations)
